Today’s post is a part of secret category for my special readers and I am sharing with you the work in progress of my oil painting called “Empowered women.” You, my readers can decice what color of hair the women will have in this painting.
I have never done a seascape or landscape painting before so this is a little bit of challenge for me. I am using a photograph from a friend as reference for the sunrise. The work I have done on this painting so far is very raw. I have to work on more details pretty much everywhere but I already like looking at the painting. Maybe you are enjoying it too.
Please let me know in comments what you think about the painting so far and which color you would prefer for the women’s hair:

Thank you for the first vote 🙂 Doing figures is a challenge for me too especially when the person is posing for me only for a limited time. I have started going to a life drawing sections in Dublin, one model at a time. I hope I will write about it soon. I think it would look lovely with the yellow skirt, but I’m sure any color you choose will go wonderfully.

The brown would match some of the brown that I use in the dark sky. I am not sure about the red, I will have to try which red exactly to add. If it is going to be black, I will be adding a bit of blue colour. I rarely use black color in my paintings. Painting something black, for example black horse, is challenging. Many artists add blue in the black. The good thing is that I can paint over and over or even try some looks with different colors for the hair in Photoshop.

Beautiful painting. You are really talented.Hair could be darkest brown with shades of red.I agree that black on its own would be dull and not have any body. Even in India,where we have black hair,we do not use black colour.
